What is success? How do Leaders measure success? How is a Leaders success measured by others? Is success the opposite to failure? Are there different types of success?
Our network meeting on Monday 25th January tackled the subject of success. As usual at our meetings, this was not a training course on being successful. Nor was it training on how to succeed or even measure or monitor success.
What it was, was an open discussion to get our leaders thoughts stirred up around what success was and what it meant to them.
We covered the practical issues of measuring success. We covered the emotional, moral and ethical aspects of success. We looked at success academically, practically and theoretically. We argued our points and possibly came to no conclusions whatsoever !
But it did mean we’d thought through the topic in a fresh way, and hopefully everyone left the evening thinking a bit differently.
And that’s what our leadership sessions are all about. Any leader needs a group of peers to occasionally support or challenge their thinking. It keeps them on their toes and enables them to continue to develop as leaders.
Invitation: If you lead something (a group, organisation, project, team, idea…) in the third sector, then why not meet with other leaders at our bi-monthly sessions to see if you can share ideas and support each other?
Next session is Monday 1st March, 5pm-7pm, venue tbc. Contact VANEL to book.
